Hemopet is a healthy pet food brand. They requested Facebook ad banners for Black Friday and end-of-year sales. That being said, I was instructed not to make the banners overtly Christmas-themed, so I opted for a neutral theme and a general winter theme.
The fonts were either pulled from their website or chosen because they looked warm and friendly. I used wavy shapes and round edges to project a friendly feeling as well.

Surfin’ Donuts is a small donut shop in Mission Viejo. All they required was to promote their breakfast items – I had free control over how I wanted to design the posts.
Their Instagram account’s analytics showed that they received more engagement when they posted photos or animation (as opposed to pure graphics or static posts), so I decided to combine motion, photography, and graphics.

This was a series of banners made to advertise Apex Rise, a small athletic clothing company that targets men. Their main colors were black and white with a dash of red.
I was instructed to use a different font than the one they used on their website as a way of making the banners more varied and interesting. I ended up choosing the one I did because of its distinctly masculine and futuristic appearance, which nods to the target audience being men, and the brand's hardcore "push the boundaries" positioning.
Final Thoughts
Creating the 1x1 square banners was the easiest part. Trying to fit the design into drastically different proportions, on the other hand, was pretty hard sometimes! I enjoyed the challenge. It forced me to strategize about how I wanted designs to translate in different sizes, which is a skill I'm sure will be useful in other types of projects.
